How to Take Apart Xbox 360 Controller?

Step 1
Get the right tools
The first step is to get the right tools. The tools include – Torx T8 Security Driver, Mini Flat-Head Screwdriver, Philips Screwdriver, X-Acto Knife,
Step 2
Now, start disassembling the controller. Start from the battery case. At first, empty the battery case. Then, use a suitable screwdriver to unscrew it. Moreover, you will get a serial number sticker inside the battery case. Remove it.
After completing the tasks, you have to remove the screws on the back part of the controller. However, remember to keep the screws together. Otherwise, you may lose them while reassembling.
Step 3
Remove the back part of the controller. Hold the top of the controller. Pull the back part of the controller gently. Don’t push hard as it may tear off some of the inner cable connections and joints. Remove the trigger area. Slowly.
Now, remove the bottom plate, where the circuits are located. Remove the circuit board from the body. Be careful. The bottom plate has five spots – two on right, two on left, and one in middle. You need to remove them separately. Otherwise, there are chances that the plate may get broken.
After the bottom plate removal, remove the circuit board. Don’t rush. Gently, pull the board out.
Step 4
It is time to remove the rubber pieces and pad. Take the rubber pads off the buttons. Then, remove all the buttons.
When you remove the rubber pieces, you have to remove the D-Pad screws. There are two screws on the back part of the D-Pad. It may require a Philips head screwdriver to unscrew them. Then, release the notches in the D-Pad and it will drop out.
Step 5
In this stage, you have to remove the top plate. Hold the RB/ LB buttons. Push the controller down. Gently. Lift the top plate up. Then remove the LB/ RB buttons.
Then you have to remove the trigger arms. Grab the trigger and gently separate the trigger. You need to push the trigger and trigger arm slightly for the removal. But make sure the push is not so hard.
